A few things to know before you start.
Cabinet condition, finishes, timing and the details that help define your project.
Get an estimateShould I paint my cabinets or replace the doors?
Painting is worth considering when you like your current door style and the surfaces are suitable for a new finish. Replacing doors and drawer fronts is an option when you want a different profile. The cabinet condition needs to be reviewed before either approach is confirmed.
Can I keep my existing cabinet boxes?
That depends on their condition and how well the current layout works for you. Photos provide a starting point; measurements and an inspection may be needed before the scope is finalized.
Does door replacement include refacing the cabinet boxes?
Door and drawer-front replacement is the service described here. Any work on cabinet sides, exposed ends, face frames or other visible surfaces should be listed separately in your project scope.
How much will my project cost?
Pricing depends on the size of the kitchen, existing surfaces, the selected finish or door style, and the work included. A project estimate should reflect those details.
How long does the work take?
The schedule depends on the agreed scope, preparation requirements and material availability. Timing will be confirmed for your project.
What should I send with my inquiry?
Start with your ZIP code, a wide photo of the kitchen and close-up photos of a cabinet door, a drawer front and any worn or damaged areas. Include a short note about what you would like to change.
Which areas do you serve?
ReFix Kitchens is being developed for homeowners in New Jersey and New York. Share your ZIP code so service availability can be confirmed for your address.
Can I choose a new color or door style?
Describe the look you have in mind and share a reference if you have one. Available colors, materials, door profiles and hardware options will be reviewed for your project.
Cabinet painting and preparation
How do you protect the rest of my kitchen?
We carefully cover floors, countertops and appliances in the work area, then mask walls, backsplashes and adjacent surfaces that are not being painted. Cabinet openings and areas outside the agreed scope are protected as needed.
Do you degrease and prime the doors?
Yes. Every door and drawer front to be painted is cleaned and degreased. After the surfaces are prepared and dry, we apply a compatible primer before the finish coats. Cleaning and priming are required steps in our painting process.
Do the cabinets need sanding?
We lightly sand where the surface condition and selected coating system require it. The aim is to prepare the surface for adhesion and smooth minor roughness. Preparation dust is removed before the next coat.
Will the paint have a strong smell?
We use low-odor cabinet paint. Some odor may still be noticeable during application and drying. We plan ventilation for the work area and follow the product’s application and drying instructions.
When can I use and clean the painted cabinets?
Drying and full curing are different stages. We explain the handling, use and cleaning instructions for the finish on your cabinets. During the curing period, avoid harsh cleaners and treat the new finish gently.
